Four months old

I am four months today! Time is going so fast. I am growing and developing fast as well. I can grab and hold toys and any other things that come to my view. I like taste them so put them into my mouth. I also can push myself when parents put me on my tummy. Anyway I explore new tastes trying some food like the baby rice or banana. Mam and dad gave me them to try. I was not very exited but managed to digest them.

I have grew up from my little cot so mam and dad have to buy a new one where I can stretch myself freely.

I have visited  my family in London recently. We travelled with mammy alone. I seen my cousins. All of them like looking and playing with me especially Barbra, who is two years old, who wants to carry me. Mammy has taken me to the Oxford street in London. I was screaming from been exited when we pop to a shop. I have been screaming to let my lung to exercise.

Today me, mam and dad did Christmas shopping in B&Q where dady works. We bought a christmas tree and some decorations. Lovely ladies whom dady works  looked after me while mamy has been shopping. The ladies cuddled me and wanted to take home. They also offer baby seating if mam and dad would go out.

Mammy keeps herself and me busy visiting playgroups and other mams with kids. She must enjoy it as she only have few weeks left of her maternity leave. Dad will look after me then.

Jab, toys and alcohol

There is lots and lost to share since my last blog which was about two weeks ago. First of all I got my first few jabs, to be precise two jabs in both legs. Poor me! I could hardly expect such terrrible and pain being inflicted unto me by those jolly looking ladies calling themselves nurses. Mam was very sorry for me. She says it will have to be Dad that takes me to my next jab. Dad believes I must be self-sufficient and have to know that this world is not only nice, soft and pleasant.
I seem to be gradually developing a routine this past few weeks. I seem to usually wake up between 7:30 - 9.00 am. I have my foodie--foodie my slang and coo word foe food and then it is playtime with mammy for about 1-1.5 hour. Then I have about 1 hour nap and then playing again with mam or dad (if I am lucky). Then mam takes me for a walk. She makes some shopping or meets other mums at this time. It amazing out there with me asleep half of the time me and mam are out for the walk. We are back home between 3 and 5 pm. After foodie-foodie, I have another playtime, then bath, usually with daddy. I go to sleep at about 8pm and wake up for the food one or two times at night. During weekends the timetable is more or less the same , but dad looks much more after me then.

Last week we been out for a walk with auntie Maria to the Endclife park and also to Mellisa`s place. Mellisa cooked a nice pumpkin pie for lunch.

I also visited dad`s department at Uni. We saw his supervisor and some guys from the lab.

Last Sunday was mammy`s birthday. She celebrated it in a restaurant with more then 20 guests.
I was passed around amongst mam's guests while mam was enjoying her food and alcohol. Mam expressed some milk before for party so she thought she would be able to have some drinks. But I was so hungry that drinking from the bottle was not enough so mam had to feed me after drinking, yes! I was totally drunk. Maybe that milk with alcohol accelerated my development as I have started grabbing toys that mam has hanged on my cot. I can also kick around in my gym. I have also started looking with much interest at colourful pictures at the popular baby touch book. I can also turn all upside unto my tummy all by myself.

Two months old!

I am two months and two days old. My parents have not been blogging for me for a while. Lots of things have happened since my last blog. First of all I have started sucking my thumb for comfort when aever mam and dad leave me chill all by myself. My auntie Becky says I am like my Dad who also sucked on his thumb for a ver very long time when he as a baby. Wow! I am really Daddy's girl. So now my parents don't need to cuddle me a lot before I go to sleep. My thumb does the job.

Last weekend was different from the quite ones I normally have. I was in the Children's hospital A&E on Saturday as I was bleeding after a small accident. I scared the tip of my nose a result of a fall as mam was pushing me in the pram. Mam was in hurry to get some condiments to prepare some polish meal to take with to an international food evening in a church near us. She thought she might just save a bit of time not buckling me in. As we were travelling down hill, I slipped gradually until I tipover and unto the pavement. The bleeding made mam panic. Luckily a very niece old lady  who lives in an old peoples ghome near by assisted mam .  She helped mam calm down and got some extra help. Later a Lovely Asian lady helped drove us to the Childrens Hospital where mam phoned dad three times but no answer, what was Dad doing that was so important to answer mam's calls. Dad phoned mam later and joined us. He kissed it better. I got a full physical examiniation and a clean up from the doctor on duty who assured mam that the sore will heal in 3-4 days and the scare will heal completely. That was a relief as I almost thought my future modeling career was out of the window then. We later went over to visit Yulima, Jacqueline and Dieogo as planned before as if nothing had happen.

I hae had lots  and lost of visitors recently. Joan, Lucy and Lee, Melisa, Sam and Dylan amongst others having cuddling me through week. I also was in the town with Daddy, Amy, Sally, Kiren and Sarah this week. I was asleep for almost four hours and even didnt wake up for a feed whilst daddy and everyone else had lunch in a pub.

I also have met a Russian couple who have three daughters one, Nina, only 6 days older then me. We will probably become friends when we grow up.

Never seen such a tall guy!

The weekend went quit busy. I had a few visitors. On Saturday Mary came to see my family as she had not been round for a while. Mary always makes sure she passes on her mam's advice from China. There is no harm with loads of advice especially if its from other peoples expriences is there?
On Saturday me and mam were chilling out after hectic Friday when mam took me to aqua-aerobic for antenatal and postnatal ladies and then to the Botanical garden for some fresh air. We went to Weston Park museum, me in the carrier looking round. I like seating in it but am falling asleep soon as it is comfortable and close to mammy bossoms.

It was very Sunny day on Sunday so mam took me for a walk as far as  Middlewood park. The park is lovely and there was almost nobody there. After being back home daddy arrived shortly with James.  James is 6.4 ft tall, I was amazed to see a man so tall.  James was pleased to see us and everybody celebrated with a fizzy drink. Mam drunk only a bit on my account, yeah through that sumptous breast milk.

After a while Amy and Joe visited us and played with me as well. I was really exhausted as James stayed late and discussed something impotrtant with daddy. I slept well during the night although wanted to play at 4 am, but mammy didn't allowed me to.

Today I was with mammy in the morning. Mam played Latin music for kids that we listened together. I liked it as well and even asked mammy to play the CD twice. Then daddy came home and looked after me as mammy went shopping and to see dentist.

Coos and Smiles

It looks like my dad has been a bit busy or ... lazy recently and asked mam to write the blog for me. This is even better as mam spends much more time with me and looks after.

I have started to socialise like smiling and cooing when mam and dad play with me or telling me stories or when I just want to communicate. I really enjoy when they parents pay attention to me and hate when they seat me into the swing which does not move any more. I love going out and about being held by mam or dad, looking through the window or at colourful walls like we have at home in orange and red. I am enjoying my bath time more and more. Dad sits me up in the bath and I stay sitting by pushing up as slipping into the water to keep afloat. This way I get plenty of exercise.
Oh, I am so exited with all new senses and emotions that almost forgotten to tell what been going on recently.
Dad was away almost all last weekend. So mam looked after me. Mam got a toothache and could not sleep at nights, poor she. On Sunday auntie Maria was helping mam to look after me from the early morning and even gave me a bottle of mammy's milk! Maria showed me some Cyprian gestures and jokes! I did like them and am looking for her next play-time with me. I also had my first trip in a car as Maria took us to the town. It was quit amazing even though it was a bit of a joggle in the car seat.

I also got a new carrier. (My parents are really trying various tricks to please me.) I can seat in it in two ways: backward and onward. Today I went my out strapped forwards to mam bosoms. I observed the natural life around us as we walked through the streets pf Sheffield. I am more convinced: this world is completely different from that in mammy`s womb where I was for 9 months. But I am loving it loving it loving it!

1 month old!

So I have been in London since Tuesday. It was a long journey to London. We got to the Sheffield train station 30 minutes early to for dad and mom to collect their tickets as it was free travel on public transport for me. We caught a train heading to Cleepthorpes. We stopped at Doncaster where I was so hungry I had to feed so about 20mins, did a poo before getting unto the train from Doncater to London. I slept throughout the journey to London. The next thing I could remember was the flash... yeah I think daddy was taking some pictures again.
Auntie Rebecca and me Naadu Sophia train lagged from the journey
Mom Yuliya Smyrnova wearing a costume from Grandma Otobia
I turned a month on the Thursday we were in London. I had no celebratory milk sucking as I was a bit unwell. I seem to have developed some itchy rush called Milia and its spreading all over my body. Mom and dad tried calling NHS direct but the nurse they spoke to thought it was nest to got to a GP. So they took to one near Brixton hill. Auntie Becky and her family's GP for a check. Apparently it was nothing to be worried about as many babies get it and it will eventually go away.

I spent the rest of the day playing with my cousins as mom was out to see her very intelligent friend she calls professor.. hmm a mystery to me too.

We were back to Sheffield on Friday afternoon. Mom tried to express breast milk for the first time. I had my first bottle feed on that day. It was such a doddle.. easy peasy, lemon squeezy! That weekend I was not allowed any visitor as the rash was getting worse. One thing worth mentioning is the way mom dressed my that weekend. Check out the following pictures.... I was all grown up, an Old lady! But I recon I was a cool Old lady weighing 4.23kg (9pounds5ounces) a palindrome of my birth weight (3.24kg).

Trip to London

I am so excited about today's trip to London that I have been up since 4 am. Mom and dad are taking me to the smoke town to see most of the family who have been away in Ghana for summer holidays. I thought it will be best if I post details of events from Friday, the weekend and yesterday before leaving to London where I might just be a little bit busy to keep posting.

Friday went past very quickly. I was up about 5 am.  Between 5-12 I did my normal business of crying, feeding, and pooing.  Mum took me to Botanical garden where I met Yulima, Jacqueline, Freda, Ashley and Freda's Grandma. From right to left Jacqueline, Yulima, Ashley, Freda, Freeda's Grandma, Naadu Sophia
Later in the evening dad opened a lovely present from Chris, Jude, Beth and Dan who live in Barnsley. The parcel arrived by post when mum and I were out.

On Saturday I spent most of  the day with mom and dad indoors as we were expecting Melinda the Midwife and some visitors. Melinda arrived at about 9.30 am. This will be the last visit we have from her as the Deborah the health visitor will take over from today. I weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces and Melinda was very happy about my progress. John and Mary happened to be in town . They offered to buy some essentials for us and come by later. Mary also offered to show Yuliya my mom, a Chinese fish soup recipe. I slept most of the time in the afternoon as I was very tired. Melissa, Sam and Dylan came by about 3.30pm whilst Mary and John were still around. Dylan had a play on the piano, with the remote controlled land rover and hand push the tiny small red cars about. I slept through most of it in Melissa arms. Melissa Jones and Naadu Sophia
Sunday, whilst dad was at work mum and I went to town where we met Martina and Rahul in Marks and Spencer.  It started raining heavily while we in town so Rahul helped mum cover the pram so I did not get wet. Joana visited us early evening whilst dad had a quick drink with some friends from work.

Yesterday I had my first ear test appointment at the Neonatal clinic at the the Jessop Wing. I had to feed during the test as I got hungry and inpatient. Mom took me shopping to get a gift for the midwife, who looked after for both me and Mom very well.  We got back about 3pm. Very tired and restless had a quick nap before Mary came to see mom. I woke up for a cuddle but was still very tired and grumpy. Maria arrived as daddy was taking me to the bedroom for a nappy change.  I was crying and restless and did not settle for any thing until I got a bit of milk by snuggling unto my mommy breasts. What a delicacy, my delicacy!

3 weeks old

I am 3 weeks old today! yeah! This is official as I spent most of the morning yesterday at the Sheffield, city hall registration of births. So I am now officially a known statistic in the UK with Sophia Naadu Ottobia Addico being my full name. I ended up with three pieces of document; a doctors registration document, a short birth document with only my details which will get me into school and can also be used by mum and dad to claim child support benefit and a third document which cost a whopping £3.50 apparently that was a bargain. I was surprised with the bureaucracy as one document would have been enough but then what do babies like me know?

Mom and dad then took me food shopping where I started to cry my eyes out as I was tired. I settled for Starbucks cafe on high street after they rushed me out of Somerfield. Mom and dad had some coffee a chat before heading to Boots for some baby nappies and stuff. Mom took me out after paying for the goods and fed me in front of a big cathedral. Daddy headed off to castle market to finish off the shopping.

We travelled back on the tram. On the tram we met this old lady who mistook me for boy as according to her I looked too pretty to be a girl just to save her the embarrassment. I cant say that hurt my feelings at all as in our world we are all babies!

Just almost forgotten, mum found out how to make a soft nest from a sunflower and elephant we got from my aunties which most of our visitors failed to work out how to use them. It was shown in a Mothercare magazine! The nest is innovative and can used as a play mat and a sofa. So yesterday dad made it and I played in it for a bit during the day. I cannot entertain myself for long as I am still only a little baby needing loads of attention and cuddles.

My first day without Dad

Last night went really quickly as a slept like a brick. I was in bed till 9am until I could hear mom kiss dad as he was about to leave to work. He apparently works in some laboratory and needed to go do some research. It was just me and mom all morning. I had a feed and almost dosed off but not quite as I was feeling a bit uneasy. Mom thought she could slip me into my play pen and exercise to get back into shape by doing some yoga. Boring! boring! A bit of a cry and mom and I were exercising together.

I was so tired after the work out that I was so restless so did what we babies do best, cried my eyes out. Mom tried all the tricks she could think of but nothing seemed to work. Where is daddy, where is daddy I cried. Mom tried to phone dad but he had left his mobile at home.
Before I could realise it we were on the tram, on our way to town for some fresh air and some shopping. Mom got me a posh pink sleeping bag, a clipper for my nails and for herself a cool breast feeding top.

I heard mommy's phone ring a couple of times. It was only daddy wondering where we were. I had loads of cuddles when we got home and slept for a while until I had to poo, three lots.. Gosh nappies are such good things.

Mommy fed me a for awhile afterwards as I became so hungry. We both dosed off until mom woke up and browsed through a Greek food magazine looking for a recipe to cook. She found a lovely meat ball recipe which she cooked while dad cuddled me to sleep.

I woke up hungry after 30 minutes interrupting mommy's cooking. She gave me that luscious milk which sent to sleep. I was dreaming... dreaming....

Mommy blogs for me!

I guess getting daddy to do all the blogging will mean it not being done every day and I am beginning to want a bit more detail adding on and pictures if any. So I have decided to get mom to do some blogging on my behalf as well.

It has been quite a long day today as I am growing up and keeping awake more than I use to.
In the morning I was looked after by Daddy while Mommy was sleeping. She indeed needed to catch on some sleep after me waking her up for feed five or more times last night. Shortly after the breakfast Daddy disappeared and I haven’t seen him for a couple of hours. He went to work as his paternity leave had finished. So the rest of the morning was basic routine with Mommy: feeding, nappies changing and sleeping .

The weather was very nice so in the afternoon Mommy took me for a short walk to a park. There was a band playing country music, so we stayed and listened to for a bit. I do like being wheeled up and about in the pram, but I rather dislike when there is lots of wind and sunshine. Daddy thinks I need some sunshine for a nice tan or may be he just wants me to get darker before we go to Ghana to visit our family there.

In the afternoon we were visited by our Italian friend Giovanni who travelled to Russia recently. He brought me two books written in Russian which Mommy will read to me. The books are very popular stories for kids and my mom had these books read to her when she was younger. I guess I have to learn Russian if I want to talk to my grandma who lives in Ukraine so I do not mind at all.

The fresh air put me to sleep and I slept nonstop for about three hours in my swing till Daddy came home. He cooked some yummy food for dinner. Daddy cooks really well and since I was born almost every day.

I am beginning to recognise my parents’ voices and faces. Apparently this is only expected from the books mommy has been reading. I love listening to Mommy murmuring to me or Daddy talking to himself. I get excited when I can see their faces very close to me, If only I could smile I will show them how excited I am as crying will only get me food or a nappy change. I still don’t like sleeping in the cot as it too roomy. I do prefer Mommy`s or Daddy`s laps !

A day after a day older than two weeks

I missed blogging yesterday, a day older than two weeks as I was quite worn out from the previous day celebrating being two weeks old. As I practically slept through out the day, I could not make sure daddy was up and about blogging. But then its all well as I have managed to catch up on my beauty sleep.

I did not sleep very well yesterday as I was up almost every hour after 3am in need of food, food, food. Gosh mommy must be worn out! It was 8am before I was placed in the swing for a bit of good kick. But I have being doing everything to stay in mommy and daddy arms.

It was good to hear auntie Mary and uncle John early this afternoon. I could hear auntie Mary saying how cute I was ... yeah yeah yeah what ever!... and how she will like to keep me. I guess I wont mind for a bit so far I can still get some breast milk. They however had to rush off as they were moving into a new flat in Broomhill.

Daddy started cooking some chicken leg soup apparently it is meant to be a delicacy. I was in my swing whilst dad tried to cook and keep me happy at the sametime. I cried a bit after letting that poo out and needed changing. But shortly after I was hungry again so mommy had to step in and provide me with some luscious milk.

Daddy left shortly after to get some glasses from boots, the shop where they bought my nappies and most other things. Shortly after I had a visit from the ladies Joanne, Mitchel and Maria, very exciting. Mommy grabbed a sandwich and we where out and about with the ladies! I enjoyed being wheeled round the Western Park Museum. I was however so hungry I had to request a feed from mommy in public, yes in public. That was somehow a bit more tasteful than when I am at home. Must be the fresh air.

Next thing I could remember I was in daddy and mommy bed all alone. Oops where is everyone I cried, if only I could be understood. I got a bit more cuddles and reminded daddy to write the blog while I had a feed. I almost had pictures but mommy forgot the memory card for her phone at home. I will have more pictures and hopefully some more exciting stories soon.

Cheerio cheerio!

2 weeks old Today

I am meant to be two weeks old today and last night I had very little sleep. I do not know what is really wrong with me and neither does my parents, poor souls who had no kip. The only thing I probably think it might be is that, my excitement and anticipation for today might have kept me hungry and awake. So to help me go to sleep I decided to make my Daddy write this blog. I made him place me gently in my rocker while I dictated my thoughts to him.

Mommy will be taking me to a post-natal breast feeding session today. I could hear babies like me cry and may be make some friends. I am not sure if mommy needs to go to this classes as so far as my concerned I am doing great sucking and sucking till my little pearl sized belly gets full. I may have to try and sleep through 1 and 2pm if I am not up to it. Will let you know later today or maybe tomorrow.

I have had a few pictures taken of me to mark me being two weeks old today so enjoy!
